Best Free Drawing Software

Writer's picture: Joyful DayzJoyful Dayz

The age-old question which art software to use? Ok, maybe it's not age-old, but it is a confusing question. My two favourites are Fire Alpaca and Krita.

Fire Alpaca

It is free software that is very easy to get the hang of, within minutes, you can create a masterpiece using the symmetry rotate tool. It does allow you to layer and use onion skin mode (you can see what was on the previous layer)for animations. According to my experience, this works on Mac along with Windows without any lagging. I would recommend this to beginners.

Krita

This software is also free! It is harder to get the hang of but is still worth it. It has a larger variety of brushes than Fire Alpaca and has more settings to play around with. It has an animation feature that has onion skin mode along with sound settings. I haven't had it lag before, but a friend of mine had it lag a bit on her Mac. I would recommend this to more experienced users.
